Lautan Luas is committed to reducing its environmental footprint through various measurable and sustainable initiatives. Supported by the implementation of the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, Lautan Luas optimizes energy and resource efficiency while developing more eco-friendly products. Lautan Luas also implements structured emission management to ensure regulatory compliance and support ongoing efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
To support the transition toward cleaner energy, Lautan Luas has installed solar panel systems across several operational facilities and utilizes alternative fuels such as palm shell to reduce dependence on fossil energy sources. Lautan Luas also contributes to water resource management by providing water treatment solutions and services through one of our subsidiaries, as part of our commitment to water sustainability.
Furthermore, Lautan Luas contributes to environmental preservation through the Lautan Luas Green Belt Program, which involves planting mangroves as part of efforts to preserve ecosystems and mitigate the impacts of climate change. Lautan Luas also promotes the principles of the circular economy by using ecoblock made from plastic waste in the construction of educational facilities, as a way to contribute to the environment and the community.

Lautan Luas introduces measurable sustainability initiatives to support a lower-carbon and more sustainable future.
The utilization of 1,052 kWp solar panels marks an important step in Lautan Luas’ energy transition. This initiative helps reduce reliance on fossil-based electricity, lower carbon emissions, and support long-term energy efficiency, contributing to more resilient and low-carbon business growth across Lautan Luas’ operations.
The utilization of palm kernel shells as a biomass energy source reflects Lautan Luas’ commitment to optimizing alternative energy solutions. With approximately 55,000 GJ of biomass energy generated annually, this initiative helps reduce dependence on fossil-based energy while adding value to locally sourced organic residues and supporting a more sustainable energy.
Lautan Luas contributes to expanding access to clean water through water treatment units utilized by its customers, equivalent to approximately 5.8 million ML of clean water supply. This initiative supports more efficient water resource management while delivering environmental solutions that create sustainable value for customers, industrial needs, and communities.
Through the Lautan Luas Green Belt Program, Lautan Luas has planted 20,000 mangrove seedlings as part of its efforts to conserve coastal ecosystems. The program engages employees and local partners and is regularly monitored to ensure long-term benefits, including carbon sequestration, coastal erosion prevention, and enhanced resilience for coastal communities.
Eco-blocks represent Lautan Luas’ circular economy initiative by transforming plastic waste into building materials for schools. As part of the plastic supply chain, Lautan Luas views this initiative as a form of responsibility to reduce plastic impacts by constructing new schools using approximately 8.2 tons of safe, recycled plastic waste, while extending the useful life of plastic materials.
